Toremar one-way fares on the Piombino to Cavo line at low-season rates, which the calendar applies to every sailing in November and December 2026. Each amount adds the fare and the taxes and fees shown on the same row of Toremar's table. On top come a booking fee of 10% of the fare on non-resident bookings and, when you land on Elba, the landing contribution. The contribution amounts (EUR 5 per adult and EUR 2.50 per ticketed child up to 12, April to December) come from Porto Azzurro's resolution of 22 April 2025, which covers all Elba municipalities; a different amount applies in January and should be checked. Toremar marks the fares as subject to approval. The hydrofoil carries foot passengers only, so the vehicle fares apply to the ferry on the days it is scheduled. All fares in euros (EUR).
Cavo is a small harbour on Elba's north-east coast, as Toremar describes it, and most crossings there from Piombino are made on Toremar's hydrofoil, which takes foot passengers only. Its calendar times the hop at 15 minutes to Elba and 20 minutes back to the mainland, while the route page simply says 20 minutes. You board at Piombino's Nuova Stazione Marittima; in Cavo, Toremar's ticket office is at Via Michelangelo 54 (phone 0565 949871).
Throughout November and December 2026 the calendar shows four hydrofoils a day from Piombino and three from Cavo, public holidays included. A car ferry is added on certain dates only: 26 to 30 November, and every December day except the 1st, 9th, 15th, 22nd and 29th, with a single 40-minute sailing in each direction. Toremar has published no sailings beyond 31 December 2026.
A low-season adult hydrofoil ticket, the rate that covers every sailing at the end of 2026, is EUR 16.00 each way plus EUR 1.05 in taxes and fees. The ferry is cheaper at EUR 13.64 plus the same taxes. Non-resident bookings carry a further fee of 10% of the fare. Landing in Cavo also means paying the Elba landing contribution, because Rio is one of the island municipalities that levy it: EUR 5 per adult and EUR 2.50 per ticketed child up to 12 from April to December, under the 2025 resolution. Pets pay EUR 5.36 on the hydrofoil and nothing in a carrier.
Pack light for the hydrofoil. Toremar's conditions allow 10 kg of free hand luggage per passenger on fast craft, or 5 kg for children on a half fare, which is half the ferry allowance. Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure, and after that your place is no longer guaranteed.
Moby's website also sells Piombino to Cavo and names Toremar as the carrier. If you need to bring a car on a day with no Cavo ferry, the Piombino to Portoferraio page on this site lists Toremar's daily car ferries.
- Get to the port in good time: vehicle boarding closes before departure, and some companies ask passengers to arrive earlier.
- Check the operator's notices on the day — bad weather, rough seas, strikes or works can change or cancel sailings.
- Check where and how to buy your ticket before you travel; some islands add a landing fee to the fare.
