Anyone not resident on Capri also pays the landing fee: €2.50 between 1 November and 31 March, €5.00 between 1 April and 31 October (Capri council resolution no. 4/2024), charged on the ticket. Online tickets are €1 extra each; buying up to the day before adds a 12% advance-sale fee (minimum €1) per item. The fare table does not state whether the vehicle price covers the driver. All fares in euros (EUR).

Caremar's only service from Sorrento to Capri is the TMV, a fast ferry that takes foot passengers, cars and motorbikes. It sails from the harbour at Marina Piccola, a few hundred metres from the main public bus station; the Caremar ticket office is on Piazza Marinai d'Italia. On Capri you arrive at Marina Grande.

From 30 October to 31 December 2026 Caremar lists four sailings in each direction every day, with no change at weekends or on public holidays, Christmas Day included. Crossings take between 22 and 32 minutes. No Caremar sailings are published from 1 January 2027 onwards, so check again before booking a New Year trip.

The standard single fare is €17.40 per person. A car up to 4 m is listed at €36.10 and a motorbike up to 250 cc at €18.00. Bicycles are allowed on the TMV. Expect three extras on the bill: Capri's landing fee for non-residents, €1 for every ticket bought online, and a 12% advance-sale fee, minimum €1, if you pay up to the day before you travel. Capri's town council fixed the landing fee in January 2024 at €2.50 for November to March and €5.00 for April to October.

Hire cars are restricted. Under regional decree no. 22/2026, vehicles belonging to non-residents, including rentals, are kept off Capri between 30 March and 2 November 2026, then again between 28 December 2026 and 3 January 2027, unless an exception in the decree applies.

Caremar is not alone on this crossing, and other companies' tickets are not valid on its boats. NLG sails between Sorrento and Capri; SNAV's Sorrento–Capri timetable runs from 1 April to 3 November 2026; Gescab's line page groups the sailings of several operators. Caremar stops selling online an hour and a half before sailing if you travel on foot, or seven hours ahead with a vehicle, and anyone needing help on board must book and notify Caremar 48 hours ahead.

  • Get to the port in good time: vehicle boarding closes before departure, and some companies ask passengers to arrive earlier.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — bad weather, rough seas, strikes or works can change or cancel sailings.
  • Check where and how to buy your ticket before you travel; some islands add a landing fee to the fare.
