Toremar's ordinary one-way fares for Piombino to Portoferraio at low-season rates, which the calendar applies to every sailing in November and December 2026. The price shown adds the fare and the taxes and fees from Toremar's table. Toremar states that a booking fee of 10% of the fare is added (not for residents' bookings) and that the Elba landing contribution is added on the journey to the island only; overhanging loads, animals and vehicles taller than 1.80 m may be charged differently and must be declared before buying. Toremar marks the fares as subject to approval. The landing contribution (EUR 5 per adult, EUR 2.50 per ticketed child up to 12, April to December) comes from Porto Azzurro's municipal resolution of 22 April 2025 implementing the Elba municipalities' agreement; a different amount applies from January and should be checked. The table does not say whether the car fare includes the driver. All fares in euros (EUR).

Portoferraio on Elba is an hour from Piombino on Toremar's car ferries. They leave from Piombino's Nuova Stazione Marittima and berth in Portoferraio, where Toremar's office is at Calata Italia 36. Toremar also runs passenger-only hydrofoils on the same crossing, taking 30 to 40 minutes on its calendar; they are described below the board but are not part of it.

For the last two months of 2026, Toremar's calendar lists eight ferry sailings in each direction every day from 2 November to 31 December, with no change on the public holidays of 8, 25 and 26 December, and every one of them is priced at low-season rates. January 2027 sailings were not on the calendar, so for that month look at Toremar's website or ring its Italian freephone line, 800 304035.

A foot passenger pays EUR 16.77 one way on the ferry in low season, plus EUR 1.05 in taxes and fees. On the hydrofoil the fare is EUR 22.83 plus the same taxes. Two extras can come on top. Toremar adds a booking fee worth 10% of the fare, which residents' bookings do not pay, and anyone heading to Elba is charged the island's landing contribution: a 2025 municipal resolution puts it at EUR 5 per adult and EUR 2.50 per ticketed child up to 12 between April and December. Taking a car no taller than 1.80 m costs EUR 41.41 plus EUR 1.58 in taxes in low season, whatever its length, and a bicycle EUR 8.89. Toremar labels its fares as subject to approval.

Toremar's conditions of carriage close check-in 30 minutes before departure for everyone, drivers and foot passengers alike, after which the booking lapses. Free hand luggage is 20 kg per person on the ferry but only 10 kg on the hydrofoil. Dogs must wear a muzzle and be kept on a lead, and pets travel on the outer decks or in kennels where available, never in the seating lounge.

Moby and Blu Navy run their own sailings between Piombino and Portoferraio, with separate timetables and prices that this board does not show. Moby's website sells the crossing and lists both Moby and Toremar ships for it. Blu Navy publishes its times online and asks foot passengers to check in 15 minutes before sailing and drivers 30 minutes before.

  • Get to the port in good time: vehicle boarding closes before departure, and some companies ask passengers to arrive earlier.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — bad weather, rough seas, strikes or works can change or cancel sailings.
  • Check where and how to buy your ticket before you travel; some islands add a landing fee to the fare.
