Standard single-network ticket: 75 minutes from first validation on Venice's waterbuses, buses, trams and People Mover, except lines 16 and 19, the Casinò line, Alilaguna boats and journeys to or from Marco Polo airport. Validate it at the start of every trip and every change. If bought on board, ask as you embark: it comes already validated and can only be paid by card. Standard tickets are not loaded on a Venezia Unica card; the reduced fares are for holders of a card enabled for waterbuses ('Carta Venezia'). All fares in euros (EUR).

If you reach Venice by car, coach or train, the simplest waterbus to Murano is ACTV line 3. It leaves Piazzale Roma from stop D, calls at Ferrovia outside Santa Lucia station, loops round the Murano stops and heads back to Ferrovia and Piazzale Roma, so you do not need to cross the city first.

ACTV's 2026/2027 winter timetable starts on Monday 2 November 2026 and gives line 3 a boat every 30 minutes in each direction. From Monday to Saturday the first one leaves shortly after 6 am; on Sundays and public holidays the day starts later and ends with one extra evening sailing. For the trip back, board at Murano Museo, stop A. The notice only lists departures from the two ends of the line. The line 3 PDF on ACTV's website is the one valid from 1 September 2026, issued before the notice, and in it the Murano stops served changed with the time of day.

The standard ticket costs €9.50 and is valid for 75 minutes from first validation; tap it at the start of every trip and at each change. For a longer stay there are passes: €25 for 24 hours, €35 for 48 hours, €45 for 72 hours and €65 for seven days. If you need to buy on board, ask the crew as soon as you step on: payment is by card only.

From 1 November the Venezia Unica ticket desk at Piazzale Roma opens 06:00–21:00, while the one at Murano Colonna opens only 10:10–17:00, so for an early or late return use the AVM Venezia Official App or buy on board. The €1.50 fare is not for visitors without a Venezia Unica card enabled for waterbuses.

Bicycles are not carried on line 3; ACTV allows them only on certain lines such as line 12. Murano can also be reached on the circular lines 4.1 and 4.2, or on lines 12 and 13 from Fondamente Nove. Line 7 from San Zaccaria is suspended for the winter.

  • Get to the port in good time: vehicle boarding closes before departure, and some companies ask passengers to arrive earlier.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — bad weather, rough seas, strikes or works can change or cancel sailings.
  • Check where and how to buy your ticket before you travel; some islands add a landing fee to the fare.
